Great weather, great group to work with. Good numbers of pollock , haddock and cusk. Had a little problem with the cod, there were to many. I had to school the back half of the boat on the fine art of jig fishing, it had to be done.

It’s a battle at times with the dogs and blue sharks, but still excellent numbers of keepers. A lot more haddock in the mix today along with the big pollock. Keep a cod next week.

Still fishing through dogs, but bringing home good amounts of keepers. Yesterday trip saw maybe 15-20 for the whole boat, on today’s marathon we probably caught 150 of them. New regs for the rest of the season have just been implemented by NMFS. 15 haddock at 18” and from September 1st – October 31 we are allowed to possess 1 cod at 22”. We have been discarding a bunch of them, be nice to keep a few.

It’s been a couple of weeks since our crew mate and friend Rick Murray passed away. Still not sure of the contributing factors surrounding his untimely death, but despite efforts from the crew, passengers and eventually the coastguard, attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. Rick was awesome, that kind of guy you just wanted to be around. His energy was through the roof, and his positive attitude was contagious to not only the crew, but anglers onboard. He is, and will continue to be dearly missed. Heartfelt condolences from our family to his. Taya and Eddie have rejoined the ranks to help finish our season.
